A Chapter A Day, Keeps the Sins Away

Really hard to pray like this… =/

God is leading towards proverbs right now. A lot of verses from there keep popping up. Might be my next move.

Rediscovering the Gospel

kingdomdweller:

I have always struggled with the definition of the Gospel, since I have heard it explained in just about every way possible. Some reduced it to a salvation presentation, many declared it as a lifestyle, others made sure we knew that it was ‘living and active,’ but never explained how this was even possible. I never really knew how the four Gospels in the Bible fit into this definition, or if they were an entirely separate meaning of the word.

I never realized that the Gospel is more than something that can simply be explained or that it can never entirely be achieved. In its full context, the Gospel is the compilation of the different expectations, opportunities, and blessings that are each little pieces of becoming a true Christ follower. The Gospel involves a continuous striving to become Christ-like, not just a single act of salvation. It means waking up every morning with the purpose of serving God set on our minds, desiring Him more each day, and living intentionally as a follower of Christ all of the time.

While a large part of the Gospel comes from our reaction to God’s gift of salvation, it must be made clear that God does not need us to please Him. We cannot afford to act as if we do God a favor by worshiping and obeying His commands, because He deserves even more than we could ever give Him. Nothing we can ever do will repay Him for the amazing gift He offered us. Luckily, God never tells us that we are indebted to Him and He gave no implications for eternal life. But because of what we’ve been given, we should wholeheartedly desire to pay Him back with every part of our beings. We don’t have to please God, but we should want to more than anything else.

The truth is, even if we try with all of our power to serve God, at some point in time, we will fail, we will fall short, and we will sin. Even though we cannot succeed in honoring God with our lives all the time, He will not think any less of us. Part of the Gospel is the idea that because of Jesus’ death on the cross, the Father sees us through the eyes of His Son. In order to truly grasp the Gospel, we must come to the realization that when He looks at us, He sees someone entirely righteous, perfectly holy, someone worth desiring and passionately loving.

Is it wrong that in that statement below I wanted to put…

Not including Catholics, Mormons, and Jehovah’s Witnesses. Im sorry but those 3 groups are the different sort of Christians that have 90% of it wrong, on second thought do Jehovah’s Witnesses count as christians?

Love the person. Hate the sin. Love the person. Hate the person who knocks on your door at 7am, preaching false gospels.

I had to get that out. Its the kind of idea that I come up with but know in my heart is wrong. Oh the inner battles of a Christian.1

Wants to learn how to speak the word…

Do what preachers do. Make it all clear to those who have questions. I love knowing whats going on while the words of the bible are being written. The bible is the greatest history book in the world!
